Indian markets rebounded strongly on July 29, 2025, snapping a three-day losing streak as heavyweights Reliance Industries and Larsen & Toubro led the charge. The Nifty 50 surged 140.20 points (0.57%) to close at 24,821.10, while the Sensex gained 446.94 points (0.55%) to end at 81,337.96.
While the bounce brought cheer, investor sentiment remained watchful as the ongoing India–U.S. trade negotiations failed to produce tangible progress. Worries loom over a possible imposition of 15–20% tariffs by the U.S. on countries lacking separate trade agreements. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continued to offload shares, having registered net sales in 10 of the past 12 sessions.

All 11 major sectoral indices ended in the green, signaling broad-based optimism.
The Nifty Realty index stood out as the top performer, driven by gains in Lodha Developers and Anant Raj. Nifty Pharma also posted a healthy 1.6% rise. The Midcap and Smallcap segments recovered smartly, with the Nifty Midcap 100 up 0.81% and the Smallcap 100 rising 1.03%.

Larsen & Toubro rose 2% ahead of its Q1 results, with buzz around a potential dividend or bonus announcement. Waaree Energies gained ~2% post strong quarterly earnings. PNC Infratech rallied 6.5% after securing a ₹2,957 crore mining contract in Chhattisgarh. On the flip side, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders slipped 2.5% due to lower quarterly profits.
