Indian equity benchmarks continued their downward streak for the fourth consecutive session, weighed down primarily by sustained pressure in the IT space. The Nifty 50 closed 67.55 points lower at 25,082.30, while the Sensex declined 247.01 points to end at 82,253.46.

The decline was led by the Nifty IT index, which fell 1.3%, extending losses after TCS’s weak Q1 earnings triggered demand-side concerns across the sector. HCL Technologies declined ahead of its results, while Infosys is scheduled to report next week. Despite these headwinds, the broader market displayed resilience, supported by optimism in mid- and small-cap stocks.

🌐 Global Drivers & Sectoral Performance

Global investor mood remained cautious amid sticky U.S. inflation and mixed cues from Asian peers. Domestically, 9 out of 11 major NSE sectoral indices closed in the green.

Nifty Realty stood out as the best performer, gaining 1.42%, buoyed by strong momentum in names like Sobha. On the flip side, telecom and IT sectors witnessed noticeable profit booking. Bharti Airtel dropped 1.54%, marking its sharpest single-day decline in a month.

Notably, Ola Electric Mobility surged over 18% after narrowing losses and issuing optimistic margin guidance for FY26. BSE and Nuvama Wealth Management also rallied after reports confirmed that Jane Street had deposited $567 million into Indian escrow accounts—potentially clearing the path to resume operations in India post regulatory scrutiny.

RailTel: Secured a ₹10 crore order from Indian Overseas Bank. Infosys: Subsidiary McCamish Systems settled a data breach case with Vermont regulator. BEML: Board to meet on July 21 to consider a stock split proposal. Force Motors: High Court quashed FY18 and FY20 reassessment notices. Devyani International: Subsidiary Sky Gate increased stake in Blackvelvet Hospitality & Say Chefs Eatery. RVNL: Won a ₹213 crore contract from South Central Railway. SBI: Divested 2.02% stake in Tamilnadu Telecommunications via open market transactions.
