Indian markets ended on a weak note this Thursday, with the Sensex shedding 690 points and the Nifty 50 slipping below the 25,150 mark, registering a decline of 0.81%. Pressure from the IT, Auto, and Oil & Gas sectors weighed on overall sentiment, while select FMCG and Pharma names managed to outperform. The Nifty Bank also ended lower by 0.35%, reflecting subdued activity in financials.
While broad-based selling dragged the indices, FMCG (+0.51%) and Pharma (+0.68%) offered resilience. TCS, M&M, and Bajaj Auto led the losses, while HUL, SBI Life, and Axis Bank emerged as notable gainers, holding the line amid a risk-off environment.
